Count My Carbs
MHRA Class I · UKCA marked

A smarter bolus calculator for Type 1 diabetes.

Photograph your meal, scan a barcode, or search a food database. Review the carbohydrate, fat, and protein estimate, then get an insulin dose recommendation that accounts for the insulin already active in your body. Every dose is yours to review and administer.

What it does

A calculator, not an automaton.

Bolus calculation is fiddly. You count carbs, you remember the insulin still active from the last dose, you adjust for the time of day, you double-check the maths. Count My Carbs handles the arithmetic and shows its reasoning — but every dose is yours to review, adjust, and administer.

Three ways to log food

Photograph a plate for AI-powered estimates, scan a packaged-food barcode, or search a nutrition database by name. Adjust portions before calculating.

Personalised dose calculation

Uses your own carbohydrate ratio, correction factor, insulin sensitivity, and target range — with optional time-of-day variations configured by you or your clinical team.

Insulin-on-board tracking

Residual insulin activity from previous doses is subtracted from the recommendation to reduce the risk of dose stacking.

Activity, sleep & hormonal factors

With your permission, the app reads steps, heart rate, workouts, sleep stages, and HRV from Apple Health or Google Health Connect to refine recommendations. Menstrual-cycle adjustments are also available.

Glucose-aware corrections

Enter your blood glucose before a meal and the calculator factors a correction dose into the recommendation when you're outside your target range.

Transparent reasoning & safety checks

Every recommendation shows its working — components, adjustments, the final number — alongside dose caps, hypo detection, stacking protection, and ketone-aware exercise warnings.

Important. Count My Carbs provides dose recommendations. It does not deliver insulin and does not make autonomous treatment decisions. It is intended for adults with Type 1 diabetes and is not validated for Type 2 diabetes, people under 18, gestational diabetes, or use with closed-loop insulin pumps. Use it alongside the guidance of your diabetes team.

For Clinicians

Configured by the diabetes team. Owned by the patient.

Hospitals and diabetes clinics can register an organisation account, then issue codes to link patients to the service. Patient dosing parameters are set in collaboration with the clinical team, and aggregate insights help clinicians see trends without intruding on day-to-day life.

Register your hospital or clinic.

Set up an organisation account, configure dosing protocols, and start issuing patient invitation codes. Your team retains visibility on the data that matters; patients retain control of their device.
